Balding Mountie Marries Lindsay Lohan Look-a-like

And that is pretty much all I have to say about last weekend's royal wedding, which I missed due to a visit to Iowa. To paraphrase the great Dar Williams folk song, "I was a wandering out on the hills of Iowa and I was not thinking of you."

It was curious that Prince William, the new Duke of Cambridge, was back at work Tuesday. Did he and Kate perhaps have a honeymoon planned for the Commonwealth Nation of Pakistan that had to be cut short this past weekend?

And what do we now call Kate, the former Miss Catherine Elizabeth Middleton? Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge. Not our Cambridge, the one in England, although there was cheering in our Cambridge this weekend. Her full title is: Her Royal Highness Princess William Arthur Philip Louis, Duchess of Cambridge, Countess of Strathearn, Baroness Carrickfergus. I'm afraid Catherine has gotten lost in there.

We note that she is now the future Queen Catherine of Canada. As I previously pointed out, I'm not sure North America is big enough for two Queen Catherines, with my sister Queen Catherine of Oregon already holding the title. William and Catherine plan their first royal tour of Canada in July 2011. Wouldn't it be cool if Queen Elizabeth II created a new title, Prince William and Princess Catherine of Canada? I'll allow that, at least until the Republic of Canada is declared.

Look for a royal announcement on July 1, Canada Day, but not here. I will be travelling to Iowa.
