President Obama Should Re-Gift Bill “Boob Twat” Maher’s $1 Million to Charity

Many are calling for the Obama campaign SuperPac to give back the recent $1 million contribution from comedian and political commentator Bill Maher. I disagree.

Bill Maher made that million over years and years of attracting attention through snide remarks, many misogynist attacks directed against women. Boob Twat, I call him. A new video highlights some of that vitriol.

It is important to remember that the worst words were directed not just at woman politicians but also at their family members, such as his many vile attacks on Sarah Palin's then-teenage daughter Bristol.

The question for the Obama campaign is whether they really want to build a second term on Bill "Boob Twat" Maher's largesse. Because you can be sure of this, if President Obama wins reelection on Boob Twat's million, you will never hear the end of Boob Twat claiming the second term as his own bootie.

But the money should not be given back to Boob Twat. He doesn't deserve to get his money back and reap the free publicity of this stunt. Instead the Obama campaign should donate the $1 million to charity, and I'd suggest that should be a charity of Bristol Palin's choice.

Charlie Sheen Is Winning Again on DirecTV

When you become a national joke, you have two choices. You can fight it. Or you can embrace it. Charlie Sheen has chosen to embrace it in a new ad he did for DirecTV. I think I'll keep my cable.

Am I Too Cynical?

I got a cell phone message today that I won a trip for me and my spouse on a cruise ship. The cheery woman said "all expenses are paid" and the trip is "on us." Why do I think "on us" means on the cruise ship and I will be paying the expenses?

I know it's can't be completely legit because they said I filled out a form to enter at an event last year. I never fill out forms. Besides, the only cruise destination I have ever even thought might be remotely fun is Alaska and this cruise would be out of Florida. And after the Costa Concordia went belly up off Isola del Giglio ...

Score Mitt Romney a Super Tuesday

Tuesday was a super night for Mitt Romney. Mitt has now won around a third of the delegates he needs to clinch the Republican nomination, and continues to rack up the delegates with a widening lead that is double his nearest rival and beats all his rivals combined.

Candidate NYT WSJ CNN CBS MSNBC RCP
Mitt Romney 415 415 429 391 335 404
Rick Santorum 176 176 169 140 107 161
Newt Gingrich 105 105 118 95 111 105
Ron Paul 47 47 67 38 29 61
Jon Huntsman 2 2 0 2 0 0
Total 745 745 783 666 582 731

Mitt Romney 56% 56% 55% 59% 58% 55%
Rick Santorum 24% 24% 22% 21% 18% 22%
Newt Gingrich 14% 14% 15% 14% 19% 14%
Ron Paul 6% 6% 9% 6% 5% 8%
Jon Huntsman 0% 0% 0% 0% 0% 0%

1144 delegates are needed to win, at least they all agree on that.

You might be excused for thinking Tuesday was Rick Santorum's night with wins in 3 states and a near draw in Ohio. But he may have made a crucial strategic mistake by not challenging Newt Gingrich in Newt's home state of Georgia.

Gingrich's win and Santorum's distant third place finish in Georgia and puts Gingrich in position to beat Santorum in Alabama and Mississippi next week, states Santorum needs to win to overtake Romney.

Call me cynical but I don't buy Newt's $2.50/gallon gasoline platform when he's got two oil state governors, current Texas Governor Rick Perry and former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, in his corner.

Still, it's going to be a long slog for Mitt Romney. According to my calculations, it is mathematically impossible for him to get the 1144 delegates he needs to clinch the nomination until May 8. It's now looking like he may not clinch until the California primary on June 5. That's two or three more months of primary campaigning.

Update: more complete counts from 8pm EST 3/7/2012.

Update: So far, Romney has won 14 states, Santorum has won 7 states, and Gingrich has won 2 states.

They Gave Me the Blue Ballot in Cambridge, Massachusetts

When the poll workers asked for my party as I am an unenrolled independent, "blue ballot" I said. That has always seemed to me the true color of the Republican Party, this red state nonsense of the last dozen years notwthstanding.

Ward 9, Precinct 2 in Cambridge, Massachusetts on March 6, 2012. I vote in the Cambridge Armory, which also is the headquarters of Company C, 1st Battalion, 181st Infantry Regiment of the Massachusetts Army National Guard. Their insignia is also blue.

Rush Limbaugh Takes the Backwards Slutwalk

Can we put a condom on the contraception controversy?

The public debate on this topic just keeps getting more absurd. On Wednesday, Rush Limbaugh called the young woman who wanted to testify before Congress about the potential high cost of birth control a slut, and now his radio show is losing mattress ads.

That's right, irate women forced mattress makers Sleep Train and Sleep Number to suspend their ad buys on the Rush Limbaugh show. The company ProFlowers was reevaluating.

After three days of withering criticism, and a bomb scare after getting what sounds like an IUD in the mail, Rush apologized:

For over 20 years, I have illustrated the absurd with absurdity, three hours a day, five days a week. In this instance, I chose the wrong words in my analogy of the situation. I did not mean a personal attack on Ms. Fluke.

I think it is absolutely absurd that during these very serious political times, we are discussing personal sexual recreational activities before members of Congress. I personally do not agree that American citizens should pay for these social activities. What happened to personal responsibility and accountability? Where do we draw the line? If this is accepted as the norm, what will follow? Will we be debating if taxpayers should pay for new sneakers for all students that are interested in running to keep fit? In my monologue, I posited that it is not our business whatsoever to know what is going on in anyone's bedroom nor do I think it is a topic that should reach a Presidential level.

My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir. I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices.
Rush got his slutmouth into trouble by taking Sandra Flukes's statement that her female law school classmates at Georgetown University were spending up to $3,000 on birth control over their 3 years in law school. He took that number, divided it by the number of condoms you could buy at $1 each, and made the judgment that was way too much sex for future lawyers.

That's the problem with all this absurd nonsense, social conservatives like Rush have managed to make this all about sex when it is really about money.

Take the issue of public funding for Planned Parenthood, which gets about $300 million a year from the federal government. That works out to about $1 per person. With a U.S. public debt around $15.5 trillion, or $50,000 per person, Planned Parenthood funding is not worth talking about.

Now take the issue of contraception. There are more choices than just condoms. If you go take the test on the Planned Parenthood website it comes down to this:

How much can you afford to pay for birth control?

__ I am willing to pay hundreds of dollars now for birth control that can last for many years, knowing that over time it would be less costly.

__ There's no way I can pay hundreds of dollars now for birth control. It is easier for me to pay smaller amounts over time, even though it may be more costly in the long run.

__ Cost doesn't matter in my situation. You may want to select this choice if you know you are likley to be covered for your choice of birth control options through insurance or other programs.
What the Obama administration wants to do is to remove all copays and deductibles for approved birth control options so as to put all women, or at least those who have health insurance, in the third category where cost doesn't matter.

But how much will that cost the rest of us? Experts point out there are offsetting savings in unplanned pregnancy costs and lost productivity. So how much is the net cost? If it's just another $1 per year, I don't care to discuss this further.

Andrew Breitbart Is Called up to the Big Blog

Iconic conservative libertarian blogger Andrew Breitbart has passed away. After collapsing last night while walking near his house in Westwood, he was rushed to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, where we has pronounced dead. He was 43.

Breitbart's influence in the Tea Party movement cannot be overstated. He was the hero who took down Acorn and exposed Weiner. He was a featured speaker at Tea Party rallies across the country. When he spoke, people listened.

Andrew Breitbart was there at the revolution. He joined the Drudge Report in 1995 and helped Arianna Huffington start The Huffington Post. He went on to launch his own highy-influential websites Breitbart.com, Breitbart.tv, BigGovernment.com, BigJournalism.com, BigHollywood.com, and BigPeace.com.

The tribute at Big Government sums it up:

"Andrew is at rest, yet the happy warrior lives on, in each of us."
