Trees Are the Leading Cause of Power Outages

The windy letter from the electric company was very firm:
"Trees are often a great addition to the landscaping of any community. However, trees are also the leading causes of power outages in our service territory as they are for many utilities across the country."
Not to worry, the work of pruning those nasty trees was to be performed by "professional tree contractors" and "overseen by certified NSTAR arborists."

That's not all:
"NSTAR uses pruning methods recommended by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the International Society of Arboricuture (ISA)."
Personally, I think the trees are getting a bad wrap. It's the old mistake of blaming the victim. In a just world, the wind would be held accountable.
