Charles River on Columbus Day Weekend 2009

Pictures taken from the Charles River bike path between Harvard Square and the Museum of Science and back again on Columbus Day weekend 2009.

Honk Festival and Parade

What happens to band geeks after high school and college? Old bandies never die, as was proved this Columbus Day weekend at the Honk Festival in Davis Square, Somerville.

Saturday they honked up Davis Square. Sunday they paraded from Davis into Harvard Square.

Honk If You Love Sergeant Crowley

We spotted Cambridge Police Sergeant James Crowley helping with crowd control for the 2009 Honk Festival parade into Harvard Square. Sergeant Crowley was famous for a couple of weeks in July, but the crowd seemed pretty much oblivious to this celebrity in their midst. The Cambridge community has wisely decided to let Sergeant Crowley go back to doing his job.

A random face in the crowd at the end of the parade looks familiar.

A close up.

Another signature!

The Red Line subway entrance is covered too, so no one from the city or suburbs comes or goes without being asked for their signature.
